Multi-focus / Presbyopia Correcting Lens Implants
Many Cavanaugh Eye Center patients are electing multi-focus/presbyopia correcting IOLs as their treatment to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contacts (including reading glasses). There are two main categories of multi-focus (presbyopia correcting) IOLs: multifocal lens implants and accommodating lens implants.
The Unique Crystalens & Crystalens Trulign
The Crystalens is the only accommodating lens implant available and is uniquely designed to flex and mimic a patient’s natural, younger lens (prior to the loss of focusing ability). The lens sits inside the eye behind the pupil. When viewing distant objects the lens remains unflexed. As you change your focus to up close, your muscles change shape and flex the lens forward, providing you clarity at computer or near.
The Crystalens is great for patients who desire precise distance vision and good computer functionality. The single vision aspheric optic mounted on a flexible platform yields crisp and clear optics. Due to this, the Crystalens has less halo side effects when compared to other lens implants. Some patients have difficulty with small print near or in very poor lighting conditions.
In Good Hands
Experience counts when selecting the Crystalens IOL for your eyes and Dr. Cavanaugh has been honored as one of the top 25 Crystalens lens implanting surgeons in the United States. He was also one of the first surgeons in the nation to offer the Crystalens Trulign Toric IOL which provides the benefits of presbyopia correction and astigmatism correction into the same implant.
